The Slow Cooker’s Origin
The slow cooker’s history is not a long one. Back in the beginning of the 1960s, the electric bean cooker was first made by the “West Bend Corporation”. This cooker was introduced as the Bean pot.. It was a crockpot in a tray that basically heated up. The Slow cookers’ first true forerunner was actually the Beaner. “Naxon Utilities Corporation” was responsible for developing that one.
The rights of the Beanery was given to Rival Industries when they had purchased Naxon in 1970. Rival’s exploration into the slow cookers’ world had begun. Many types of foods cooked well with the same process according to the company. The 25,000 cookers were given out and made available to the public during 1971 as the first official Crock-Pot.
With this product, in the year 1974, its inside crock could be removed for cleaning in which became another innovation. Saving energy became also an encouragement to people. Through using the low-wattage Crock-Pot this was easy.
Easy fixing meals with their slow cooker has introduced by Rival to career-oriented women. Rival recognized that it would click to working women in which they could cook a meal even if they were away. In the middle of the 70s, different versions were made by other companies. Even most of them do not exist anymore.
In the market today, Rival remains to lead in slow cooker. They command a whopping 85 percent of the market. In many different models, they provide a variety of sizes. These models are extremely useful and have proved it over the years.
Now they come with automatic controls and even timers to help them do their cooking more effectively. A lot of cookbooks have been written specifically for slow cookers giving many meal recipes.
